Description of the conference/event:

The WRC hosts an ongoing series of conferences/symposia, workshops and dialogues across a wide range of topics related to the water sector.

These events can be focused on a wide range of water related topics (e.g. WRC Biennial Symposium) or can be focused on specific technical topics or issues emanating from the research and innovation activities that the WRC engages in. We also have a range of reflection events that are linked to key events on the South African and global calendar (e.g. water day, youth day, women’s day, etc)

These events happen in a range of different locations in South African and globally and more recently, many have taken place virtually.

The events vary in size from small, focused workshop based events of around 20 people to much larger events with hundreds of participants. Events are arranged exclusively by the WRC and also in many are arrange in collaboration with our wider network of partners.

Opportunities for entrepreneurs/innovators:

Depending on the structure of the event the opportunities will differ. Opportunities include:

• presentation at technical events
• panel participation
• facilitation of dialogues or conversations
• pitching opportunities
• dialogue/engagement opportunities
• traditional company exhibition
• specialist innovation technology showcasing

• invitation
• application to present/expression of invitation
• open participation

Exhibition/attendance costs for the conference/event:

Generally WRC events are free of charge. In cases where we work with partners that are running paid events some charges may apply.
