African deep-tech and hardware startups have a unique opportunity to scale their ventures through the Savant Build Programme. Applications are currently open for Cohort 4 of this highly specialized, funded accelerator.
Savant, a premier deep-tech investment and venture-building firm with over 20 years of experience, designed the Build Programme specifically for science-backed innovations and physical technology ventures. Backed by Germany’s GIZ and the Western Cape Government (DEDAT), the initiative bridges the gap between technical proof-of-concept and commercial investment.
Program Benefits
Selected startups participate in an intensive venture-building process that includes commercial strategy development, operational support, financial modeling, and bespoke mentorship. Key highlights include:
- Grant Funding: Top graduates stand to secure grant funding ranging from €50,000 to €80,000, with further potential for equity investment from the Savant Venture Fund.
- Investor Access: Direct exposure to international funding networks and strategic partners during the program’s Demo Day.
- Resource Library: Twelve months of access to specialized deep-tech business modules via the Thinkubate platform.
Eligibility Criteria
While all deep-tech and hardware innovations are welcome, the 2026 cohort places a strategic focus on the Green Economy and Climate-Tech sectors (such as renewable energy, resource efficiency, and waste management).
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be registered and operating within Africa.
- Develop physical technology, hardware, or deep-tech solutions.
- Be at a pre-seed or seed stage with a functional proof of concept.
How to Apply
The intensive program is scheduled to run from August to November 2026. The deadline for submissions is 15 June 2026. Because space is limited, early application is highly recommended.
